MDF ITALIA oval table NVL TABLE 250x130 cm (Glossy black - High density rigid polyurethane)

A single material contemporary table having a strong personality. NVL Table is the second project, after Super_Position, signed by the French designer Jean Nouvel for MDF Italy from which it takes the name. The distinguishing features of its architecture manifest themselves fully in this table and they enhance the stylistic elements that have always characterised the work by Jean Nouvel: pure geometrical shapes, formal lightness, graphic aspects, rigour. The simplicity of the shapes dialogues harmoniously with the solidity of the material in a game of contrasts: the table top appears thin and light and it seems to float on the base. The central support consists of two volumes that get thinner upwards and they create symmetrical bases supporting the top, in this way they recall the trilith principle, a structure consisting of two vertical elements and a third one that is supported horizontally.

Structure and tops: Bases and flange under the top are made by moulding in high density rigid polyurethane and joined between them by a mechanical fixing. Every base is equipped with cover plate and inner cast iron moulded matt black epoxy powder painted ballast, with proper places for felt pads. To complete the "monolith" of the table the top made with a medium intensity wood fibre panel being 25mm thick, equipped with snap hook and the places for fixing hidden to the flange below; it is particular the junction between the two parts that creates an elegant "shutter", a refined and pleasant technical/aesthetical detail.

Finishing: Bases, flange under top and top are completely refined, always and only monochromatic, painted or covered with the application of material that is about 3mm thick.
